Our luxury designer Chinese Dried persimmon is produced from one of the most skilled growers in the world!
Made from fresh persimmon fruit that has been carefully peeled and precisely dried using traditional methods. The process concentrates the fruit’s natural sugars and transforms its texture, resulting in a soft, chewy exterior with a sticky, tender centre. No preservatives, additives or flavourings are added. Only 100% dried Persimmon remains.
Dried persimmons have a long history across East Asia and are particularly revered in Chinese and Japanese food culture. During the Han Dynasty in China, dried persimmons were held in such high esteem that they were commonly offered as gifts to the imperial court. In Japan, their production remains highly labour intensive, contributing to their status as a delicacy.
Our dried persimmons from China differ noticeably from the more familiar Turkish and Japanese varieties. While those are typically oval shaped, brown and heavily wrinkled, Chinese dried persimmons are round, often resembling small doughnuts in form and retain a striking red colour that reflects their natural sugar content.
The flavour is rich and comforting rather than sharp. Natural sweetness dominates, balanced by gentle fruitiness and subtle notes reminiscent of brown sugar and cinnamon. Their small size and ready to eat nature make them an easy, satisfying snack without preparation.
Dried persimmons are valued as both a food and a preserved seasonal fruit, allowing enjoyment beyond the fresh harvest period. Their nutritional density comes from concentration rather than processing, offering fibre, vitamins and carbohydrates in a stable form.
Energetically, dried persimmon supports grounding and gentle replenishment. Its sweetness feeds the solar plexus through calm energy intake while the sacral connection relates to pleasure, warmth and sensory satisfaction. Any uplifting effect is slow and steady rather than stimulating.
Also known as Sharon fruit or Hoshigaki, dried persimmon remains actively consumed across Asia today. It is appreciated not as a ceremonial food, but as a traditional preserved fruit, shared, gifted and enjoyed as part of everyday nourishment.
Dried persimmon offers depth. It nourishes, comforts and delivers a slow, natural sweetness that feels warming, stable and quietly sustaining.
